One question I always get is: “Maggie, how do I find motivation to do x?” So today I want to talk about 3 things you need to do to find motivation for whatever you’re trying to do! • While mindset is a huge factor in motivation, how can you get that mindset if you don’t know what to do? First: SET. A. GOAL. Any goal. From “I want to run a mile in 7 minutes” to “I want to learn how to do a handstand,” you must have a goal. If you don’t, there’s nothing pushing you to meet this goal, and therefore have no motivation. *Remember to have a SMART goal- specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timely! Second: have a support system for that goal. If you are going to people that don’t support your goal(s), then you will constantly hear negative things, which will lead you to think those things/stop pursuing your goal due to embarrassment or fear. Finding people that support your goals will make you feel good and want to go after them! Third: when it comes to exercise- do exercises you LIKE. Too often we find ourselves doing something because everyone else is, or because it will get us “the best” results. But if you don’t enjoy it... and don’t do it... then there will be no results! This happened with me and I hated going to the gym for most of 2019! Quarantine is hard. It makes me feel hard on my body and my motivation. It makes me compare myself to other people. It makes me feel like a perfectionist about things that don’t need to be perfect. Last October I joined an event in Hamburg. Celebrating diversity. I chose an outfit I would never ever have worn 10 years ago. I loved it. I still do. Every bit of it. This is so me. In every detail. I felt great and powerful. This outfit incorporates several things that are "against" socially excepted norms. A somehow bodycon / mermaidish dress that enhances my belly. Big prints and a shiny material that draw attention to my big self. Red lipstick which again screams for attention. Big shiny earrings which enhance the whole look. Nothing is silent here. It is all about being here to be seen. As said, I loved every bit of it! I didn't feel tired or bad when wearing this outfit. I felt confident and full of energy. I was walking fast in order to get to the venue. I celebrated diversity that night. I laughed, I danced until the early morning. I was happy. . There I was a woman with a BMI that before Corona but also especially now is seen as morbidly obese. Medical staff and governments are discussing whether or not a body like mine would be worth keeping alive when sick. If it would be a good idea to ventilate a fat person severely infected by the Corona virus. If my body would be worth a life saving operation. . Magazines are writing about Bodypositivity an still fatshaming bodies like mine as unhealthy and therefore unworthy of positive attention. . Today is international No Diet Day and it has never been more important to stand up and fight as a big person. Открыли музеи, вот от души спасибо ... 🙈 Но не тянет. ⠀ Жратвы дома - в промышленных масштабах, а дел, отвлекающих от еды-ноль. ⠀ А! Заказала ж я впервые в жизни всякие приблуды с Алиэкспресс. Типа виброплатформы для спорта и прочей ерунды от гантелей до коврика, ибо конечно же никогда этих предметов у меня не водилось. И понятно, что шансов они бы использовались больше 2 дней после получения - немного. Но факт: алиэкспресс тоже за бодипозитив: заказала я это все 2 недели назад. Обещали доставку за 3 дня. Типа премиум, все такое. Вчера пришло письмо что чего- то из заказа мне придётся подождать ещё 2 недели 😈, а чего- то ожидать в июне, дескать если не нравится- можете отказаться. ⠀ Не нравится. Но не отказалась. Уже дело принципа и интерес, сколько все же месяцев займёт доставка. ⠀ Давайте уже завязывать с этой хренью и открывать спортзалы, а? Я уже достаточно боди- позитивна и скоро смогу стать рекламой вафельной забегаловки под лозунгом «нет fat-фобии» и «долой бьюти-стандарты». P.S. Vegan Supplementation – Chapter 2.1 – Omega 3💊❤️👩🏽‍⚕ Some days ago, I asked you which nutrient we should cover next and sooooo many of you voted for Omega 3! Very good decision, I must say! It’s such an important topic, not just for vegans but for basically everyone living in the west! So important, that I can’t cover it with just one Post. This is the first of (I guess) 3 posts. Let’s get right into it!🤗👩🏽‍🏫 What is Omega 3?🤔 Omega 3, as well as Omega 6 are fats our body can’t produce on it’s own, why it is crucial to include both of them into our diet. Omega 6 narrows blood vessels and is pro-inflammatory, whereas Omega 3 does the opposite and helps to dilate vessels and reduce inflammation. Unfortunately, we see an overconsumption of omega 6 and an undersupply of omega 3 which might have a reinforcing effect on hormonal issues and on common disease like stroke, diabetes, cancer, inflammatory diseases, cognitive impairments, alzheimer's and so many more! What should we do now?🤔 1. Include wholefood omega 3 sources, like flax- or chiaseeds into our diet. 2. Reduce your omega 6 intake by reducing processed foods like sunflower or grape seed oil. You’ll find the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio of different foods in the post above.👆🏻 Note: It’s not recommended to reduce wholefood omega 6 sources, as those foods come with many other beneficial nutrients your body needs. Vice-versa you can use e.g. flaxseed oil but ground flaxseeds are the better choice as you loose most nutrients by pressing out the oil.🍎🥕🥑 Finally, please don’t panic now. It’s very unhealth to be too rigorous about your diet. As always, you don’t have to be perfect and departing from the guidelines from time to time won’t hurt you. Just try to eat healthy for most of the time and allow yourself some mistakes from time to time.
